Q. Is there any way I can learn anything from video guitar lessons?

A. This is a question where the answer is pretty clear. There are a lot of things you can learn from video guitar lessons. As with many types of lessons, there are positive and negative aspects to this type of instruction. The obvious positive is being to repeatedly view the material at any convenient time. The main negative is that it is not possible for the student or the teacher to react or play off one another.

Having spent most of my life giving private lessons, I am very used to the interaction I have with my students. As I am working on developing some lessons that will be online I am finding I have to try to anticipate all the possible misunderstandings or misconceptions a student might have.

I have come to the conclusion that as long as I go through each song slowly and try to be as clear as possible about some key items, most viewers will be able to absorb a lot of useful information. I also hope that anytime something is unclear to a viewer they will contact us with the problem or suggestion.
