Q. I am somewhat confused about the concept of guitar training. Can you shed any light on the subject?
A. My first reaction to this question is that guitars are not very smart and the pursuit of guitar training is a total waste of time.
As I thought through it a little further I realize you must be referring to training a person to be a guitarist, not actually training a guitar to do anything. Well, most of my life has been spent trying to train people to become better musicians and I am starting to believe that human beings have got to be one of the more trainable creatures on earth.
I believe that all you have to do to become a better guitar player is keep an open mind, listen to your instructor, and be able to put up with a little pain and suffering. It shouldn’t be too difficult.
As far as the confusing concept of guitar training goes, I’ll let you know when my guitar brings me the newspaper and my slippers.
