Question & Answers with Neil Hogan #13.3

Q. I was hoping to take an electric guitar lesson at your store and wonder how much they cost and what I should expect to learn.

A. If you are thinking of taking an electric guitar lesson you should plan on paying anywhere from $30 to $75 depending on the teacher and the length of the lesson. The main things we like to get electric players started on are understanding the names of the notes on the guitar and learning to play power chords.

An electric guitar lessons should also cover a little about the workings of the guitar. You need to learn about the volume and tone controls as well as how different setting on the amp will affect your sound. Some time must also be spent discussing strings, picks, styles, great players, etc… Oops, I’m getting into the whole program, a little more comprehensive than the question about just a single session with your teacher.

There are lots of articles here at Totally Guitars that address some of these issues and concerns.

Be sure to check out the stories at country guitar lessons as well.
