Neil Hogan Concert Video - Sleight of Hand

Saturday, February 28th, 2009 by Neil

Hey Gang,

Thanks again for all the responses to the recent posts.

I will do my best to keep new stuff coming as often as possible.  Since I got quite a few requests for more info on the song that is used as the intro and outro for the Quick Tips that are being added to TotallyGuitars.com, I decided to put this up for now.

The piece Sleight Of Hand is on an album I made a couple of years ago called El Dorado. It was my 3rd album of original guitar pieces. I found a really rough cut of a concert video that I knew was kicking around here somewhere and I will keep an eye out for more similar stuff.  In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this busy tune.

Don’t forget to come back often and feel free to comment below.

Stay tuned and in touch,
Neil

Tip O’ The Day- Chromatic Scale Exercise

Friday, February 27th, 2009 by Neil

Hey Guitar Players,

Here is another great example from the upcoming series of Quick Tips I’ll soon have for you.

I am going to try to post at least one of these a day as we head into the next phase of videos here at TotallyGuitars.com. Please feel free to leave your comments below.

I believe I’ve worked out the kinks in the blog and you can post your comments more easily now.

Also, if you have any trouble viewing this video, try viewing it with the Firefox browser.  I’m reworking all of these to stream easier with Youtube as we speak!

Stay tuned and in touch,

Neil

Quick Tips On The Way

Thursday, February 26th, 2009 by Neil

Hey Gang!

As many of you know, I’ve been a little incommunicado lately on the blog and through email.

But… Things have changed for the better and I will be starting to post a bit about what I’ve been up to lately.

Hint:  I’ve been working on some incredible things that will blow you away AND help you become a better player!

One of them is the coming features of the site and it will be aseries of ‘mini lessons’ that will be titled “Quick Tips.” Following is an example:

The thing is… to help me create videos and lessons that you REALLY like and REALLY want… start by sending in questions or problems about playing the guitar that you might have and I will do my best to get to all of them as fast as humanly possible… if not faster. (wink)

Stay tuned and in touch,
Neil

February Update #1

Friday, February 6th, 2009 by Neil

As I work furiously on the next phase of our site I have reached a point where I need some help and contributions from anybody out there who has been working on any of my videos. In March we expect to be rolling out a whole bunch of new features. One of these will be the Video Mailbag where online students will be invited to submit videos with questions or problems that I will address or comment on, and hopefully fix. I would like to test this out with anybody who could shoot a short video (5 min or less) of whatever you are working on, with a few questions. I will then post a response and it will become part of the lesson on that particular song or subject.

If you can do this please contact me at jsmusicco@gmail.com for info on format and uploading.

In the meantime, here is a quick sneak preview of what’s ahead. Each of the lessons will be separated into 8-12 segments that focus on one aspect of each song. There will usually be a complete play through at slow speed somewhere in there. Here is that segment from Still You Turn Me On. This would be a great example if somebody wants to jump on it. Here is a link to the TAB.
