New interpretations of songs by different artists are always cool.. especially when they do a BETTER job than the original singer/songwriter (subjective of course).

I'll start the ball rolling...

I prefer April Wine's 'Bad Side of the Moon' over Elton John/Bernie Taupin's..

Here's another..

I like Manfred Mann's 'Blinded by the Light' better than Bruce Springsteen's..

Edit- I added the link here so Suzi could clearly see the better version.

I like the Spiderbait version, it is faster and it features slide on banjo (unorthodox instrument in rock today (the last one I remember is gallow's pole from Led Zeppelin issued last year;)

I'm with Greg on this, especially Jimi's version of All Along The Watch Tower.

you really got me from van halen vs the kinks. Mind you that the Kinks version was certainly entertaining during its time (I remember, Ouch ) but Van Halen`s really rolls over it.

On the original version of You Really Got Me, Dave Davies actually recorded that with a blown speaker in his rig, on purpose.

IMHO, if you are talking about Bob Dylan's voice then you have missed the point of Bob Dylan. I think of Dylan as a poet with a guitar, his voice wasn't the thing it was the songs.

My two cents worth.

Ric- you're right on! Dylan is a poet/musician whose song writing is so good that it compensates for a weak voice. Neil Young is another one just like him. Too many poeple (like my wife) get caught up by their voices!

With Dylan, look at all the other bands that have covered him! For a song writer that is high praise!

How about Ghost RIders in the Sky, written by Stan Jones in 1948 and covered by over 50 bands. But the Outlaws version stands alone as great country, power rock!!
