This is a great song, and can be very challenging lots of chord changes and fingering. I have heard most of these requests don't happen (seems the paying members get more attention) but I would pay for some of these lessons if they were chosen! They don't just have to be given out for free. Search around on other web sites you can find some free lessons that are good for this song.

Hey Jeff,

I'm not sure if you had noticed. But the person whom made the request,Is a paying member.I to am a paying member.I believe this site has said many times its not a song learning site. But a guitar teaching site.Jeff I don't quite understand the angry,Or your statement. You don't understand that the people that pay and make this site work not only for us but for all the free lessons also, might get the first choice.

There are song packages you can buy here,If joining this site is not your thing. And for not being a member. These people got a contest going right now.You can win a GUITAR just do a song about the site, and you don't even have to be a member.

And Jeff we all know there are other site out there,Hell most of us were on them till we found this one.So I guess if you want to come to a (FREE) Site and then get pissed off because you cant find a certain song??Heavens be to me to point out the obvious!!

Good luck with you playing

Sorry if you think I'm "pissed off" didn't want to convay that message. I was told that there wasen't much of a chance of the songs I would like to learn would happen. Thats OK I an not mad or hurt just thought I would express my opinion (after all this a discussion forum) that I would be happy to pay for any song request that was turned into a lesson. I also think learning songs is a very important part of a Teaching site! I'm not trying to make waves,so far I like this site, although some of you seem pretty defensive!

HI Jeff, Welcome to TG, as has been said song choices need to have something specific about them before they are chosen, i.e. a particular fingering, a new chord , new progression new techniques etc etc. So whenever anyone makes a request it neeeds to be a qualified request, by that I mean state why in particular this song would make a good lesson. And it is possibly correct that the paying members have a better chance of getting a request , due partially to most knowing how this site works. However, I would put money on it if a non paying member found a song that had genuine benefit in our guitar learning journey it would be considered. Notwithstanding all of that, there are specific threads for song requests and simply by posting in the correct place members, paying and non paying, have a better chance. As far as making waves those that have been around here for some time have had to deal with some real unsavoury characters in the past, so we tend to be a little bit like that as we all love this place and want to protect the good thing going on, thats human nature. And I guess the obvious this is a commercial venture and its a business, teaching guitar not a repository for tabs as some who come here seem to think. My recommendation to you is join us and find out whats on the 'other side' I'd guarantee you wouldn't be disappointed. The internet and forums are never easy paces to negotiate as sometimes totally harmless comments can be so easily misconstrued, so all i say is just be carefull to protect yourself and others.

Enjoy the site mate.

Hey Jeff I just saw this post..

I would love to see your recommendations..This song is on our short wish list..as you are probably aware we get hundreds of requests..and it is simply not possible to do them all..

Our context is to create lessons that teach you skills that you can use to play any other songs..

The songs we decide to launch into Target come from three places...Members, Non - members and ourselves..

We decide the songs based on the learning potential, so the recommendations can and do come and we do consider them from anywhere..

Anyway my thoughts..

Thx for being part of TG

As a paying member I would love to see an arrangement of somewhere over the rainbow, perhaps with some interesting passing tones/chords. It seems like there are a few versions on utube. I gave up on seeing "the clap" by Steve Howe. So....I learned it with tab I found and with the help of utube. Its not perfect, by any means.Perhaps I will post it at some point.

I am a bit disappointed with the lack of response, to my questions, that I have received since joining the forum. However, I will end on a positive note. The newest Irish Dance lesson is wonderful. Nicely done.

Perhaps you can let us know what question you had that hasn't been answered...?

If it is a song request , you wont hear from us...but if it is added into the correct thread, then it is and will be considered..thx

Also love to see you on live show..make sure you submit a question not answered (other than song requests over there)

Neil plays a beautiful rendition of "Over the Rainbow" in one of his CD's, I believe it is "Yesterday's News". I know this doesn't do to help you learn how to play the song but Neil does a really great job of combining the chords and melody. I downloaded several of Neils CD or downloads from the TG store and Neil does a great job of playing many different types of songs, some totally original and others his rendition like Over the Rainbow. Regarding the miscommunication about song suggestions, teaching and the overall purpose of this sight, may I quote from a book I am reading:
Hence, beloved ones, since YOU are awaiting these things, do YOUR utmost to be found finally by him spotless and unblemished and in peace

I just want to say thanks to all that responded to my original request. I am new to TG and enjoy the lessons that I have tried but new to forums.
I was a little down due to the fact that no one else was interested and just quit looking for any responses but wow! now there was some other interest.
I am on a short break from work and will read all the responses later.

Thanks to all
