I Swore Blind I Wouldn't Do It... But!!! 1 Year, 1 Month ago
I swore blind to myself I wouldn't go on about my latest attempt to stop smoking, but progress so far is very encouraging. I am using Champix, may be called something similar in a store near you! Any how, first two weeks you take these tablets and keep smoking, third week you pick a day and stop, welllll that didn't work for me I was into 4th week and I stopped completely, now three days later and still no cigarettes have touched my lips! or any other part of my anatomy for that matter! And hey I feel good, early days thought team, but I go back to pharmacist for repeat prescription of tablets tomorrow. I'm not at the puffing up chest bragging stage just yet; but this is the easiest attempt to stop in years I've experienced

Congrats Chas! There are FAR TOO MANY good reasons for quitting to mention.....
I smoked for one summer while working on the road in remote locations, and had no problem quitting..... It was easy because the smokes made me want to throw up every time I lit up..... Well, that and my wife would not come within 20 feet of me because of the smell....

Chas,
There's a lot easier thing to do. I quit drinking once, cold turkey, didn't touch a drop for.......
As for someone on the same path as you are on, I hit 64 days today.
It gets harder, then easier, then harder, then.......
As for any of you still smoking, if I can do it, anybody can!! Easy to say huh, hell I was just about to turn pro, 40years of experience.
It all started over some girl back when I was 14, don't even remember her name now!
A warning about the 'Chantix' as it's called over here, I tried it and went about crazy and didn't even know it. It can have some wild side effects so watch yourself. I don't think I would have ever noticed the side effects myself, I overheard our youngest daughter ask her Mom "What the Hell is wrong with Dad"???? See, the wife wanted me to quit so bad (she's an ex-smoker herself) she would have put up with just about anything, she never said a word about the mood swings and the temper tantrums.
Chantix does work for many without any effects, so I wish you success however you can get it, good luck.
Ever need someone to yell at while you are on this journey, someone in the same boat, yell out!
*I'm going a bit different than the pill (tried it, tried hypnotism (twice), the gum, the patch, even several rounds of acupuncture). I'm using the e-cig path, now down to a mix of 12 and 18mg nicotine.
**In case anyone hasn't told you, watch your blood pressure also. I've never really had a problem with my own, but it hit the roof shortly after coming off the 'analogs'. May have just been my own body's way of dealing with the withdraws though.
