Dick Clark and American Bandstand were part of my childhood, and I loved the show. I can still hear the theme music -- written, by the way, by a very young Barry Manilow.
There are some things that are so much a part of life that it's a slap in the face when they are taken from us.
Dick was one of those things. To hear of his passing only solidifies the fact that the only thing that lasts forever is change.
Rest well friend, may God bless you and take you into heaven.
Dick Clark always came across as a really nice guy. I can tell you first hand that 'nice guy' doesn't even scratch the surface for this man. I don't know that I have ever met a more kind, gentle, and humble person. At an industry convention about 25 years ago, I had the good fortune to have a couple of drinks and a long conversation with Dick. I will miss him.

Don't change a thing about you, I like you just the way you are.

Thanks for the info about Dick Clark, as a human being, Bill. Apparently his warm, personable nature wasn't just an act. (hard to fake that anyway I suppose...but you know what I mean.) He seems like the sort of larger than life person/personae that will never die. The fact that he didn't ever seem to age (at least not up until the very end)...probably added to that.
