Choose 3 songs for your big send off 1 Year, 5 Months ago
There are a few unavoidable things in life. One is tax, the other is that day you probably won't remember all that well.
I guess I could be accused of being a bit morbid, but I'll risk it.
What tunes would you want played at your funeral service? Being a magnanimous type, I'll let you have 3. After all, we are all such wonderful people the service will undoubtedly go on for some time.
So, list the 3 tunes you would choose. I'll start:
1. Who wants to live forever (Queen)
2. You'll never walk alone (Jerry and the Pacemakers)
3. Over the rainbow (Eric Clapton did a version I really like so it would be that one)

Interesting question, Tony. Honestly, though, I've thought at times about songs I'd play at other people's funerals (loved ones; songs that I felt summed up their personality or life) but I don't think I've ever thought even once about what should be played at my own. And I'm having a hard time coming up with one, let alone three! But I guess i'll go with I'll Fly Away, sung by Alison Krauss and Gillian Welch (from the O Brother Where art Thou? soundtrack).
Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and
it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an
hour, and it seems like a minute. That's relativity.

Well certainly not a happy thought! But I have thought of it and really only ever had one song in mind and it would be of course a Beatles tune...

Hey Pete. It's no great mystery, I don't stay up late at night thinking of threads! lol. I'm going to a funeral tomorrow unfortunately and being an emotional type, I always wonder what music will be played as that generally is the deciding factor as to whether I hold it together or lose it. So I thought of this thread.

At my mother's cremation it was Malaguena as she used to play it. At my brother's it was In My Life and You'll Never Walk Alone as half the family come from Liverpool and he was a life long support of Liverpool FC.
I guess for me it would be Fields of Gold by Eva Cassidy If You Could Read my Mind by Gordon Lightfoot
and Always Look on The Bright Side of Life ... you've got to leave 'em laughing when you go!
Makes no difference at all if you hold it together or not Tony, saying good bye in the best way you can and giving thanks for that life is the important thing.
I guess Mr. Segovia doesn't give a damn!
- Les Paul answering an audience question (while playing with Segovia) about why he tuned his guitar after every song and Segovia didn't.
