I was taught that you took one string off and then you put one string on so that there is a constant amount of tension on the neck of the guitar. If you take all of the strings off and then put all of the strings back on at once you are putting unnecessary strain on the neck. Maybe I was taught wrong. who knows?

Thanks for the great demo. For some reason I string a guitar differently every time. I needed a system to follow!
Doesn’t holding a wound (G to low E) string down on the headstock while you are winding cause a friction that could mar the finish like a file?
