{mainvote} This is our Guitar Course For The Absolute Beginner. Many people come to the site with no experience at all with the guitar and wonder where to start. This series of lessons is what they are looking for. In Lesson 1 we start with some of the first things a student needs to know; What to look for in a guitar, a comparison of steel and nylon string guitars, a little talk about different sizes, and some of the different ways of holding the guitar. Lesson 2 for The Absolute Beginner continues with an explanation of how the
strings and frets are related, whole steps and half steps, names of the strings, tuning, left and right hand positions, using a pick, and how to fret notes with your left hand. It also includes some practice exercises to establish good and efficient techniques in striking the strings and getting good tone. In Lesson 3 we cover various topics including learning the notes, reading tablature, and chromatic scales. Also, we show you how to play a piece by Bach. Lesson 4 gets into chords and strumming- the real foundation of popular guitar playing. It also includes some play-along exercises.
