Neil, I’m really enjoying the web site and lessons. On Harvest Moon, can you speak to the chord solo in the bridge (the melody notes around A7sus4 and A7) like you do on the EM7 and G6? Thank you, I really relate to your teaching style. Frank written by q9272678, August 02, 2011
Neil...this is exactly what I'm looking for in this lesson. It's relatively easy to find the chords and strum patterns online for various songs..... But what is difficult to find is how to weave the melody line into a strumming pattern and make the song more interesting (and recognizable)....especially for those of us that don't sing and have voices that will peel paint off the wall. I agree this probably is something that can't be tabbed out very easily. I think it's more of getting a feel for the song and what works. I think a great set of videos would be the general process you go through to weave that melody line in to a song. What works, what doesn't work, what strum patterns it works best with, how to keep the rhythm going etc. It's great to see some of videos tackling this. Not an easy task! I've only been a member a couple weeks but really like so far what I have seen. written by Steven G, February 16, 2010
Does anyone else have as much trouble with the D/A bar chord in the 14th and 16th measure as I do?? Tough stretch and tough to get to quickly!!written by Al Rosen, July 18, 2009
I love the drop D tuning and how it really brings the best out in my guitar, and the great tune that Neil Y. wrote. You make some of my favorite songs playable (by me). I'm really glad I found this site. I signed up after about 20 minutes, I could tell it was a winner and you are an excellent teacher. Can't beat the price. Thanks for all your work, keep it up. Thanks for this one. It is pretty amazing how you have in your head a tune and think that it is way more difficult than it actually is. I seemed to picked this one up very quickly. I like that! Maybe the teacher had something to do with that or maybe alot to do with that. As I had stated before I really like the chord melody style of playing and you are so right when you stated that this style is something that you really need to feel in order for it to sound right. I have learned some tunes from tabs and they just sound too "mechanical" and don't seem to flow well. I like the fact that you leave some of the learning up to the individual, but give just a few tidbits of hints on how to get there. Thanks again for the lesson.written by Kevin P, July 17, 2009
Very good lesson Neil and you make it very simple to play, great teaching method on this song. I love the way you teach all songs and I love Neil Young songs and you are by far the best teacher going. I am glad to be a Target member I have learned so much from your teaching.
