The English folksinger Donovan showed both Paul and John a guitar accompaniment style known as Travis Picking. Paul’s right hand technique has all the notes being played with the thumb and index finger. His index finger never really picks out a single string, it is more of a brush across 2 or 3 strings, and is brushing down or being pinched with the thumb on the beats, and brushing softly up between the beats

Video issues here too Neil. I made the video size smaller and still have times where the sound continues but the video freezes and skips. I probably need a new "confuser".written by jksniper, January 15, 2011
Just trying to see if anyone else out their is having issue .I have been in touch with both Cheryle and Mike ..They both have tried to help .and I will say both have been quick with responses and tried to help was even on the phone with Mike Friday night and we thought it might be the wireless router but after bypassing the router and hooking right into the modem with an ethernet line still having the same issue which is : the video play for a short period of time and always ends up getting stuck ,sometime it will go for 2 minutes sometime 30 seconds but the result always ends up the same.Sometimes I will hear the voice for a while and the video will play kind of like flash cards again always end the same .I just thought before I give up totally I would give a shout out to see if I'm just missing something stupid. Before I waist anyones time I will also give you a list of things I've already tried. I did a speed test and scored 19.60 which from what I understand pretty darn good I unistalled adobe flash and re-installed it(it is the latest version the 10.something) Ive tried entering the lessons throgh any and everyway imaginable I have right clicked on flowplayer and messed with the setting and have always been careful to put back to original way Ive changed resolution and screen size to every combination possible Ive tried firefox and google chrome as browsers Ive tried lessons at different times of day The strange thing is I'm not having issues with any other video's. I'm actually becoming a little obbsessed and needles to say distrought written by M3Deaner, November 21, 2010
Watched a History Channel program on the Beatles today and it should Paul playing Blackbird. Then the camera panned down to his feet. And guess what? He was tapping both his feet, you can hear the tap, tap, tap in tghe video. He was wearing some very colorful patent leather shoes! Just a bit of trivia for you all. I love this song. Thanks for breaking it down to the point where a beginner can learn it. Who'd have through I'd be able to play it (slowly) after a little practice. I've now even gotten it up to close to proper speed (after a lot of practice) and have gotten confident enough to assemble to different sections as they appear in other recordings I like rather then just how it appears in the Neil's arrangement. A big thanks! Michelewritten by michelew, October 19, 2009
I've always wanted to learn this song. Thanks for a great lesson Neil, I've just about nailed it! Brettwritten by Brett S, June 27, 2009
Ignore my previous question.. Someone else had the same question and you answered it in 'Neil's Answers'. written by Al Rosen, May 11, 2009
Hi Neil, Another great song & lesson. A question-- I semi-learned Blackbird before I found your website, and my right hand picking is different than what you show. I pinch with my thumb and middle finger (as you do in your video).. but I'm using my index finger to pick the open G string (not bringing my thumb down). I can play it pretty well now, but I'd like to learn properly as well. You did mentioned to try different fingerings with your left hand- does that count for the right as well? Is my fingering an option at all- or should I try to unlearn it? Thanks. written by Al Rosen, May 10, 2009
Neil, Sorry, I listend to your breakdown where you go through the ending. Thanks, Mikewritten by Mike Bleier, May 08, 2009
Neil, I love playing this song and I am so close to playing at full speed. I go to play with your play through and you play it differently from everywhere else, as I can tell you play it like the song actually goes. If I am right you don't play this first ending and then you do that slow down and then have an ending that is not in your tabs. I guess I have become a slave to your site because I don't want to go look for tabs elsewhere and was wondering if you could cover what is in that little ending that you do in the play through? Thanks, Mikewritten by Mike Bleier, May 08, 2009
