*Morning Has Broken*is a tune that goes way back to Gaelic roots in Scotland then became a popular hymn in the early 20^th century. It took on new life in 1971 when Cat Stevens recorded it for his album Teaser And The Firecat, with some stylistic and artistic help from Rick Wakeman. This lesson goes over the chord progressions, strumming, and an expanded look at some of the theory involved in modulating and transposing to different keys.
Neil, I love the way you taught this lesson. The more theory I hear, the more it wiggles it's way into my tiny brain. Sort of like a puzzle piece finding its way into the colorful scheme of a photograph. I am sure I am not alone here, I don’t learn very quickly because of very limited time but the way you taught this song using the lyrics along with the chord changes have helped me tremendously. I learn what seems like 100 times faster this way. I have been with you since last October and it seems the later lessons you do sing alongs more often. Humbly I say, please do the full sing along on all songs, or at least go through the lyrics and chord synchronization like you did in this song. This is way more than useful to a guy like me with limited time. I learn to play more songs faster and then the theory lessons not only sink in faster, but I am more encouraged to learn rather than discouraged due to lack of time and not being able to place the lyrics and chords together. Thanks, love this song. Mark
