It uses a repetitive 4-mote pattern and the challenge is to keep all notes ringing as long as possible. Jimmy Page took credit for arranging it as a traditional tune when it appeared on the first Led Zeppelin album. Page and Robert Plant had heard it on a Joan Baez album and later added the real author, Anne Bredon to their credits.

Neil: There is no lesson link (links) showing up for Baby...attachments show but no lesson links? Any ideas?written by melvin, December 18, 2010
I've been playing this for a while, but still can't find an ideal way to play the F-E chord change at the end of each bar. I used to use the thumb-over technique, but this means using my thumb on the previous chord as well, which tends to leave my first finger muting the E string. Also, it just doesn't sound very clean because of it's quite a stretch. However, I'm trying your technique of getting the F Barre chord ready early, but find I keep hearing my first finger hammering on the horrible Eb note in the Barre before I've finished fingering the F. Any solutions to this?written by banapaulo, March 11, 2010
Hi neil i am trying to learn how to play baby im gonna leave you and its going great exept for the last struming part where you strum the chords you fingerpicked, the problem is that you talk about it in the break it down section but how you say im suposed to play it is diferent from the taps so im a bit confused, please helpwritten by oskar wiklund, June 17, 2009
Neil, I have been through the lessons for this song, very easy to follow the instruction. Learning it is tough, my left hand is able to hit the chord fingering, but my right hand seems to have a mind of its own. I have been working on it for at least 1+ hours a day since the weekend and I'm finally getting it. The finger picking is now at the stage where if I concentrate too intensely on the sequence T-T-I-M etc, I start to foul up the song, but if I clear my head the finger picking just happens and the verses sound terrific and nearly smooth. It's funny because the finger picking sequence for me is like getting tounge tied when you repeat a phrase over and over quickly my finger get tangled. Practice Practice Practice however is getting me there. I'm looking forward to moving on to other finger picking songs. Your videos are a terrific way to learn. Thanks for this terrific guitar method written by Geoffrey Ziskind, May 07, 2009
