I am new to this site and enjoying the resources. Classical Gas is just amazing. Neil your playing this song has just inspired me to learn it. It will take me 4 months and my promise is to make you proud. I surely will enjoy other favorites in the future. great job! Your efforts are not a waste of time, loving this stuff. I'm like a kid again, 63 year old kid. thankswritten by donsteel, September 23, 2011
Hi Oskar, Keep working at it, It is a very gratifying song. I was advanced beginner when I started working on it almost 2 years ago and was not going anywhere (relearning different version all the time up to mid section B)until Neil's lesson, 6 months ago, where I had the confidence that it was the right way to play. Now I am pretty close to have something decent. So be patient you are almost there. It will be the song you will be the proudest of. Marcwritten by Lavallee, November 04, 2009
Hi Neil I have played the guitar for a year now and i practise hard almost everyday and when i heard this song it didnt matter how difucult it was to play because it is one of the best acoustic songs i ever heard, so im fighting to learn this and im on section c now and im so glad that you put this song up on the website. I know this is a song that maybe is to hard for me and i dont play the dificult parts perfectly but im getting thrue it anyways cause one day ill play it perfectly :)written by oskar wiklund, November 03, 2009
In my post earlier I meant section C...not the interlude. I stayed up too late that night.written by Ron DePew, June 01, 2009
Thanks for this Neil. I have always wanted to learn this song and have been working hard on it. This song is quite a challenge and will definitely better my playing skills.written by Kevin, June 01, 2009
Hi Neil- I'm really enjoying Classical Gas! While I was working on the interlude tonight it dawned on me what would really be helpful is the ability to set up a playback loop. I have audio software that will loop and I have found it very helpful in trying to learn music segments or TAB them out. It may be too much to ask, but I think it would be a nice feature and one that I would certainly use. Ronwritten by Ron DePew, May 28, 2009
Thanks Neil, I understand now and it makes a difference. Marcwritten by Marc, May 24, 2009
Hi Marc, I see what you are talking about and I am lifting my little finger off the 2nd string as I hit the 1st string. This is so the melody note at the 8th fret does not continue to ring as I hit the next melody note on the 1st string. The notes are a whole step apart and would add unwanted dissonance there. Really like your classical gas lesson. I am puzzled by the section B a 20 sec in the video. This is the 5th bar in the chorus. I can see your pinky finger going up down like if you were alternating the second string 8th fret and 7th fret befor hitting the first and second string 5th fret. The tabs seems to indicate the finger on the 8th fret second string should remain fix to be hit twice alternating base and the 5th string. When I do that I cannot get the same melody as you do. If the tabs are correct I migth have a rhythm problem. Thanks Marcwritten by Marc, May 23, 2009
