Elizabeth Cotten wrote Freight Train when she was 12 years old. It is now a fingerpicking standard and a great place to start learning the alternating bass technique.
this is a great lesson! I have been looking for a good arrangement for this tune and here it is! There are some difficult hammer on's but these are very basic typical techniques that I feel I need to work on and this is a great tune for it. As for the left hand, I have found I need to pay attention to not moving fingers out of position needlessly , as Niel suggests. I have been working on it 3 days now and going very slow with a gradual build up of speed. I think this lesson and techniques used in it will be well worth the effort spent leaning them! It is not as simple though as you might think at first glance.

Like Neil, I have been playing this for a long time. This lesson helped me revisit it in a new way. THANKS.

What the fudge, I'd rate this about a 5-7 from spending 15 minutes with it. Simple Travis rhythm but there's some horrible hammer-ons and quick left-hand movements in there.
Gonna be great fun to learn though, very rewarding.

Some of these difficulty ratings are way off. This is a 2? And "Just Breathe" is a 4?
