House Of The Rising Sun - Guitar Lesson

For slower internet connection choose a lower video resolution.

Charts, TAB, and Guitar Pro Files are only made available to our TARGET Members House Of The Rising Sun is an old folk song that found new life in the 60s, particularly after Eric Burdon and The Animals recorded their dynamic version featuring the electric guitar playing a distorted arpeggio through the chord progression. This lesson looks at fingerpicking it acoustically but it transfers very nicely to the electric as well.

Hey there, Both the normal and high quality versions in "Up to speed" have the wrong audio for about the 1st minute (as per Desmond's comment). FYI. written by Al Rosen, June 03, 2009
Thanks for the info on other versions of this classic. The lesson book my private instructor has me using is written by Russ Shipton and called The Complete Guitar Player It includes a version of Rising Sun that doesn't feel right. There is an added base note which ends the arpeggio, e.g. T,i,m,r,m,T for each cord. This arrangement just doesn't feel right. But I was told it's the original. I grew up listening to the Animals version. And when I watched you play it I smiled;Dwritten by Jim, May 07, 2009
I may have come across what Jay was saying ... in 'Part 8 Up To Speed' for about the first 55 seconds, we hear the audio that matches what is the last 55 seconds of the video, then at around 0:55 the audio picks up where it is supposed to be, and they are in sync for the rest of the piece. A note to the web guys ... If you guys could display somewhere that the comments go on the song, and not just an individual part, it may lead to some more detailed/helpful comments from us. I didn't realize this the first time I made a post on TARGET, and I am guessing that Jay didn't either. Also I should say that I love the program and appreciate all the hard work that goes into this. I'm not complaining, merely trying to provide constructive criticism. -Desmondwritten by Desmond Gibian, May 07, 2009
I checked out some of the videos here and did not get the sync issue spoke of above. But didn't watch all the videos just some of them. Just poking around here. written by David Clark, May 01, 2009
