Across The Universe is a John Lennon tune that originally appeared on a benefit album for the World Wildlife Fund (the real WWF!) and later appeared on Let It Be. The most authentic version can be found on the reissue Let It Be… Naked. The song opens with a short melody, harmonized in 6ths, played on the 1st and 3rd strings, before settling into a little strumming over F#m and A. The verse has an interesting variation in a couple of spots where John puts an extra beat of A in a measure to let the words flow a little smoother.

looking at the double stops in this song makes me think about the best way to get sliding double stops like the lead in to the Beatles I've Just Seen a Face
I struggle badly getting the slide to sound like the intro, indeed I struggle pretty badly getting the slide on a few other tunes with a similar slide/double stops.
I just wonder if you have any tips that might make it easier to actually capture that sliding effect

If you can get a hold of a Larrivee OM-03R (rosewood) cutaway, you will be blown away by how much guitar you're getting for the $. Used ones in excellent condition go for $650-$750. Watch the Larrivee forum.

Neil- Does your guitar have fret markers on the side of the fretboard, or none at all?
Can you recommend a decent, not too expensive (not more than $1500 and preferably less expensive), smaller, preferably cut away acoustic guitar?
Thanks!
