TARGET Members will have any Charts, TAB, and Guitar Pro Files
Truckin’ is a blues-based song that works around a shuffle rhythm in the key of E. This lesson looks at a couple of ways of playing the main rhythm guitar riffs as well as a detailed discussion of 12/8 time. It is presented without tablature but includes a chord chart and close-up descriptions of many of the parts.
Sorry if that seemed like a 'bait and switch' lesson but we are working on adding tab to these 'Play Through' versions that are really just improvised chord solos of a particular song. Some people want to learn the song as the band played it, obviously not like this. This tab is under construction and part of our philosophical approach to teaching- learn to be a musician by learning songs and techniques, then applying them on a bigger scale.

Well that was a bait and switch! I thought I was going to learn and get detailed tab of the version in the playthrough vid. Instead I got a history lesson, lyrics and the chord sequence. Not a good first impression, if the other lessons are like this I won't be here long.

any update on the tab?

Oops! Great point. When we originally put this lesson together it included an improvised play through and many of the supporting lessons at TG teach you how to construct this yourself. Now that they are available for individual purchase there are some gaps created. We are in the process of adding tabs to these Play Through segments as time allows. This one is in the pipeline and should be ready soon. Stay Tuned...

Wait so...I just paid $15 for the "campfire version?" I can get that anywhere for free. You do a great job explaining everything that you do...explain... but you don't teach us how to play the song in the play through video...please fix this?

Hi Neil, I notice a lot of stuff going on in the play though that is not explained in the lessons. For example you show the first 2 measures of the intro, but not the next two. Also you have some riffs at the beginning of the chorus moving the A chord around. Your verse (which sounds very cool) is not the basic E riff shown in the lessons and in the tab. The playthough is awesome, the basic version cool though, but looking for some help on the more advanced stuff. Thanks.

Hi Neil,
In the Theory section you talk about how this song is rooted in the blues. I understand that much. But why is the riff based on the Em pentatonic? The Chords are almost all major. Why is it not rooted in the E major scale? What about improvising? Can lead improvisations be done on either the Em Pentatonic, Em Blues or E major scales? Is that just a matter of choice for the sound (feel) you are going for? Are all valid?
Can you make another video to go with this with a couple of other riffs? I see in the play through that you do some stuff on the 1st position A chord. It sounds good. and you do other stuff too.
Thanks,From Beaker.
I love the DEAD!!!

amazing how many other songs you could pick up on while you were playing the
blues theory for this song
