Roxanne is a great bar chord exercise as the strumming pattern requires 'squeezing' the chord to mute it between strums. This is one exercise that is highly recommended as bar chord practice anyway.

Great lesson, one question: Why not take the G7sus4 on an upstroke?

Good question- As you know, I normally would say to hit anything off the beat as an upstroke. In this case that beat needs as big an accent as possible. Strumming up does not give you the big bass sound you need here.

You are a great guitarist Neil and the best teacher I've come across. I don't mean to blow sunshine up your skirt but the knowledge you share is very much appreciated. I've been a drummer for twenty years and all of my musician friends guard the tricks and secrets of the guitar like gold. Thanks again for your help.
